Baby sea turtles cross Atlantic!

Genetic analysis unravell the dispersal patterns of baby #seaturtles from Poilão Island, #Bijagós, Guinea-Bissau.

Using genetic analysis, researchers from the MARE - ISPA, Instituto Universitário and University of Exeter, in collaboration with the IBAP, estimated that the connectivity of Poilão Island goes well beyond the African continent, with some juveniles dispersing across the Atlantic, reaching South American foraging grounds. This is a major undertaking for the small turtles and underlines the regional importance of this population
